HOW YOU CAN HELP THE SINK HOLE COMMUNITY OF BAYOU CORNE, LOUISIANA – Cherri Foytlin

Below is a plea to help the people of Bayou Corne by activist and mother Cherri Foytlin.  Please take a moment to call as many of the listed “officials” as possible after you have read her plea?  This is how our ‘alternative media’ works… it’s not about sensationalizing the dire events in a community or throughout a territory… it’s about banding together to help each other through the crisis. Hello friends,

I come to you today, to ask a favor on behalf of members of the Bayou Corne Community.

As you may know, they have been experiencing tremors adjacent to a large sink hole that formed there August 3, and have since been evacuated from their homes with few answers available. Please see more info here – here http://bridgethegulfproject.org/node/688.

Recently the community has worked to organize and informational town hall meeting to which Texas Brine – the company responsible for the cavern below the sink hole, has agreed to attend. Unfortunately, local leaders have refused to do so, leaving this community feeling ignored and uncomforted, at best. http://www.nbc33tv.com/news/local-news/emergency-officials-say-t

I believe that this community, or any other, has a right to be heard, especially in a crisis setting. The personal favor I ask of you today is that you call the below listed individuals and ask that they attend this meeting.

You may ask yourself why you should get involved. It’s a fair question. This is not your community or mine. I am hoping though, that most of you will ponder this: If they can ignore them, on this local level, you can be ignored on your local level. That the fight for justice, transparency, recognition and freedom of peoples, is boundless in terms of moral right and wrong. To deny these people a voice, is to deny all people a voice. That a representative government by definition requires a frequent and honest address to the people represented -otherwise, what is the point? And finally,  because it’s easy, and it’s the right thing to do.
